Michael Jackson

A couple of things I would buy from the Michael Jackson Sale of the Century

Look in the local...

When was there such an alarming decline in British pub patronage that it needed an ad to tell people to visit the boozer?

7pm "Tell you what darling, I haven't been to the pub for a while. Maybe tonight I'll stop in for a quick beer"
11.31pm "Get ya knickers off, I've got a rage on and fancy knocking on your back doors"

Halcyon.

Katy Perry - Hot n Cold vs Fragma Tocas Miracle (2008)

It aint right, but I do like this.

(Credit to Thom for posting this on his Facebook status)

Skee Lo - I Wish (1995)

1995. Yes, of course I should have been concerned with Country House vs. Roll with It or whether Bernard Butler would be at The Monarch. But I wasn't, I listened to this and Mc Lyte Cold Rock a Party all year long and loved it.

MC Hammer - Pumps In a Bump (1994)

(Stolen from Dilated Choonz )

It's like the very definition of a house tune from the late 80's/early 90's, just needs a fat chick wailing!

Enya - Orinoco Flow

I know and you know it is time we all stood back and objectively looked at Enya's body of work.

Yo Majesty - Club Action Chris (Bagraiders Sailing to Baltimore Edit)
old song, group and remix but it helps prove the point.

Denny Crockett & Ike Egan - ulysses31

Denny Crockett & Ike Egan - ulysses31

I feel a bit 118 118 posting a cartoon theme tune. Oh well, I long ago accepted my obsession with pop culture and low culture in general, above staring at a Hockney or being able to give more then 3 correct answers when watching University Challenge.

Ulysses 31, cartoon from the 80's, used to watch after school, it was creepy the way the crew of the ship would float in mid air on the ship, suspended until some drongos completed some mission or other. Fuck that, theme is brilliant.

I picture the composers having a duel with their 808 synths and drum loops in a small studio somewhere.

Actor bollocks...

David Suchet was on Desert Island Discs on Sunday talking about Poirot, Maxwell and his other roles blah blah. He mentioned an experience when performing some years ago when he didn't know how to unwind from his character. A head doctor mate of his visited after a performance and looked into his eyes and asked him basic questions; what's your home number, what are your children's names, where do you live? And Dave couldn't answer these questions because he soooooo into his character. Fucking cunt.

And this clip of fat bloke Paul 'Pauly' Sorvino, really illustrates that.

'Bout 30 secs in.

DJ Hype - Ready or Not

I'd prefer the bombs after watching all of Generation Kill in practically one sitting.

For God's sake John, Sit Down

North London

North London. Land of my people. I was raised in Hampstead, the shit bit way down south of Rosslyn Hill or South End Green. I am currently living in the Victoria/Pimlico area due to a series of circumstances beyond my control and some mistakes on my part. I long to be back in NW3. I long to be back where things make sense to me.

I intend to be back there for my death.

Buju Banton - Champion (Remix) (1995)

Buju Banton - Champion (Remix)

"Round ba ba bum bum". Could do with some of that.

Jungle Mania

Shy FX - The Wolf

Rat Pack - Tra La La Boom

I don't know what happened to me on Friday morning but I was suddenly struck by this overwhelming need to listen to all the jungle and drum & bass my ipod could pump out. Shame there is pretty much nothing on it, cept for a couple of total bigguns.

Old London Underground ticket machine

Oyster. Yeah. It was the most exciting thing ever ever introduced to the tube network. I renewed my travel card on Sunday night when I was fucking wankered and I managed it quite well. Bit of stabbing at the touch screen, few cancels now and then, but a success.

How the fuck though would I have coped with the daft bastard machine above? No chance. Who on earth designed this unwieldy confusing twat of a thing? Totally unloved and not missed, 'cept at Walford station, where last time I saw her, a pre-death Pauline Fowler was still buying her off peak 1 - 3 travelcards to go 'up west' for a shop.

Artful Dodger - Woman Trouble

Man, there is still a bit of me that wishes to return to that slightly thinner, massively poorer, emotionally even more retarded youngster of 2000. I loved this song, fucking hell. I still love it. Tasha, Steph, Dan, Elliot, Danny, Eddie, Joe, all them spanners. Fun fun fun fun fun.

Yarbrough & Peoples - Don't Stop the Music (1980)

VH1 late night is the best fucking place on earth for rediscovering old disco and early hip-hop tunes. I saw this one night a few years ago and also Break Machine. Brill!

Check out the slightly scary hand puppets about 3mins 20secs in.

I'm trying to dig out the 8min version to upload so in the meantime have a 2min version

Crocodile Dundee Theme

I love Crocodile Dundee. I know a certain person who won't appreciate me saying so but I just don't like 'King of Bloody Good Blokes' Paul Hogan though. That matters little. Croc 1 & 2 are fucking brilliant films and do offer a bizarre interpretation of two very different stereotyped cultures looking into one another. I am sure as shit Ozstro/US relations were set back years by the bar scene at the beginning of Croc 1 and New York tourism was set back a tad in Oz, when Mick felt some Shelia's cock. Oh well, Syndey 2000 happened and we all saw it was a progressive, forward looking country... Till Johnny Howard balls'ed it all up.

Crocodile Dundee Main Theme - Peter Best

Crocodile Dundee Main Theme - L'Ora Tredici (originally posted by 12am Maternal with no info whatsoever a few years back, this is fucking amazing. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT)

It's all about the Benjamins...

I'm a Benjamin and here are some others. We're a fairly awesome gang of thinkers, do'ers, knobbers and comic book bashers.
