2-2, Bring on the Nou Camp

Immense pride. 2-2 after what looked like a hopeless cause.

We've only got one Song!

Dicking about with my hair... Again.

I haven't spent a ton of money lately on hair products but it does feel like it. I am on my third attempt at finding something which will give me shine, control and that certain oily look and I think I may have solved an issue with the Lucky Tiger Cru-Butch. I have some in my hair right as I write and it is tough muther'f'in stuff. I may need a haircut to remove it or some paint thinner. Wonderful.

I am also a little bit beardy at the mo as well, so I have invested in some moustache wax to help stop me looking like a flippin' hippy. This is Clubman Wax and it feels quite good at the moment.

Exploration #6 - London Pirate Radio from Palladium Boots

Kind of massive arsehole advert for some French boots and also kind of interesting.

Fowley/Shannon

Couldn't find an exact looky-likey but the wonderful Michael Shannon does look a lot like Kim Fowley. And he is by far the best thing in The Runaways film.

Orange Juice - Blokes on 45

Of all the CD's and records buried away in my parents house because I've failed to be a respectable growed up, this is one that I often miss. I remember buying this from CDWow, the Jersey based purveyor of the cheap DVD, the cheap CD and the odd sly cheap DVD which arrives in an unmarked envelope. Say no more.

I love this for being an unabashed old fashioned medley track.

Titicut Follies (1967)

Titicut Follies is a somewhat famous documentary about the patients of the Bridgewater State Hospital in Masswotsit, 'Merica.

I was reminded of it after hearing Leonardo DiCaprio mentioning its use as part of the inspirational texts used in his and Marty's preparation for shooting Shutter Island. And I was reminded of my film studies lecturer at Canterbury saying how we would always remember this film...

Because it had a funny title.

Tits.

You see.

Brutal film. And heart breaking. And also very funny.

Simple Minds - The American

More Simple Minds brilliance.

Booster Lanolin Hair Cream

I popped into my favourite general store to pick up some socks and a hair pomade. And under the advice of Master Barber Dustin Fishbook, I purchased this hair cream. First proper use will take place tomorrow morning and I am very much looking forward to seeing the results.

I was also given an invite to a party as well. This, combined with buying some cheap 501's, the socks and the hair cream, has proven to be a very interesting week.

The Runaways Film

It has Michael Shannon in it, so it cannot suck. To borrow a phrase, I remain cautiously optimistic.

Barbara Norris - Heavy Hitter

Heavy Hitter

Quick Google (or Scroggle for the privacy minded) search will see that this has done the rounds. First time I have heard it though and it's excellent.

Check out Beat Electric for the instrumental version and thanks to them for turning me on to this.

"By the way senator. Love your shoes"

I watched 'Lambs last night all the way through, in an uncut version and without adverts for Diet Coke punctuating the terror. Know what? I loved it.
Manhunter is brilliant for different reasons.
Hannibal is unspeakable tripe.
Red Dragon is total, total gash.
I tried to watch Hannibal Rising but it was late so I went to bed instead.

Some of it feels dated now because thanks to films like this, television developed a near undying love for the police procedural and we all now know how to chop someone up and get away with it. But this was one of the first.

Ice Hockey Gold

It's all gone bonkers here (and I continually betray my heritage by calling it Ice Hockey, ha!).
